- How does AI transcription work?
- Bloox uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition to transcribe your audiobooks. All processing happens locally on your device — no audio is ever sent to a server. Transcription requires iOS 26 or later.
- What does “What Did I Miss?” do?
- It generates a quick AI summary of the last few minutes of your audiobook using Apple Intelligence. Tap the sparkles button in the transcription view to use it. This feature requires iOS 26 and a device with Apple Intelligence support (A17 Pro or later).
- What audio formats are supported?
- Bloox supports M4B (MPEG-4 Audio Book) and MP3 files. Multi-file books (one MP3 per chapter) and CUE files for chapter information are also supported.
- How can I listen to my Audible books in Bloox?
-
Bloox plays audiobook files you already own — it doesn’t connect to Audible directly. If you’ve purchased audiobooks on Audible, you can use Libation (free, open-source, available for Mac, Windows, and Linux) to download your purchased library as standard M4B files. Libation handles the entire process: it logs into your Audible account, downloads your books, and saves them in a format Bloox can play. Once you have the M4B files, import them into Bloox via Google Drive or iCloud.
Alternatively, if you run a home media server, Audiobookshelf (free, self-hosted) can manage your audiobook library and export files in a compatible format.
This is the same approach used by dedicated audiobook players like Prologue. Your purchased audiobooks are yours — Bloox simply gives you a better way to listen to them.
- How do I import books from Google Drive?
- Go to your library, tap the import button, and choose Google Drive. Sign in with your Google account, then browse or search for your audiobook files. Bloox only accesses the files you explicitly select.
- Is my data private?
- Yes. Bloox has no ads, no tracking, and requires no account. All your data stays on your device. Analytics can be disabled in Settings. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- The sleep timer screen is very dark — is that intentional?
- Yes! The sleep timer uses a low-brightness dark design specifically to be gentle on your eyes when listening at bedtime.
- How should I name my MP3 files so they play in the right order?
-
Bloox uses smart natural sorting and automatic pattern detection to play your files in the correct order. It also checks for gaps in your file sequence (e.g., a missing chapter 3 between chapters 2 and 4) and will warn you if something looks off.
Here are the naming formats Bloox recognises, listed from most recommended to also supported:
